They are nice established sweet chestnut saplings and are perfect to plant now. These trees are fast growing with edible nuts.

Like their cousins, horse chestnuts, they are deciduous, and will be begin to lose their leaves in September / October time for autumn.

 Sweet Chestnut - Castanea Sativa

Often used in hedging mixes, this plant has been cultivated for over two thousand years for its delicious edible nuts. This is a large vigorous growing deciduous tree with rugged, grooved bark and glossy, serrate, oblong-lanceolate leaves to 20cm in length. Male catkins to 15cm in length, yellowish, followed by spiny fruits containing edible nuts.
